Superstar Rajinikanth has officially confirmed that Jailer 2 will release in cinemas on June 12, 2026. The announcement came as he returned to Chennai after wrapping up a shooting schedule in Kerala. The upcoming sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer is currently in production and has been generating significant buzz among fans and industry insiders.
Kerala Schedule Completed
According to a report by The Times of India, Jailer 2 was recently filmed across multiple locations, with the most recent schedule taking place near Palakkad, Kerala. Rajinikanth received a warm welcome from fans who gathered in large numbers to catch a glimpse of the star. During this leg of filming, the production reportedly completed the grand climax sequence, promising an action-packed finish to the film.
About Jailer 2
Directed once again by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 will see Rajinikanth reprise his popular role as ‘Tiger’ Muthuvel Pandian. The sequel will also bring back key cast members from the first film, including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, and Mirnaa.
New additions to the ensemble cast include SJ Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Anna Rajan. The film will also feature special appearances by Shiva Rajkumar and Mohanlal, with extended cameos by Nandamuri Balakrishna and Mithun Chakraborty, making Jailer 2 a high-profile, star-studded spectacle.

The news was confirmed by Kamal Haasan himself during the NEXA SIIMA Awards 2025 held in Dubai. When asked about the collaboration by actor-comedian Sathish, who hosted the event, Kamal replied with a witty metaphor: “We were united long ago, but chose to remain apart because they kept splitting a biscuit and giving us only half each. We wanted a full biscuit each, and we got it and relished it well. Now we are content with just half a biscuit again, so we have come together.” This long-awaited reunion has already stirred excitement among fans of both legends.
Now back in Chennai, Rajinikanth is expected to continue work on Jailer 2 and other upcoming ventures. With a confirmed release date and a powerhouse cast, Jailer 2 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films of 2026.
