Filmmaker SS Rajamouli and his son SS Karthikeya found themselves in the midst of an earthquake while in Japan promoting RRR. The earthquake, which struck on Thursday, March 21, was measured at a preliminary magnitude of 5.3, according to official reports.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, SS Karthikeya shared a firsthand account of the experience, accompanied by a picture of his smartwatch that displayed the earthquake alert. In his post, Karthikeya recounted the initial disbelief and gradual realization of the situation, highlighting the calmness of the locals amidst the shaking. “Felt a freaking earthquake in Japan just now!!! Was on the 28th floor and slowly the ground started to move and took us a while to realise it was an earthquake. I was just about to panic but all the Japanese around did not budge as if it just started to rain!! Experience an earthquake box ticked.,” SS Karthikeya conveyed this through his social media post.

The RRR team, including SS Rajamouli and producer Shobu Yarlagadda, were reportedly on the 28th floor when the earth began to tremble beneath them. Karthikeya described the sensation of the ground moving and the brief moment of panic that ensued before noticing the composed reaction of the Japanese people around them.
Thankfully, there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries following the quake, and the Rajamouli family, along with their team, remained safe.
