RRR Throwback EXCLUSIVE: When SS Rajamouli made Ram Charan and Junior NTR practice ‘Nacho Nacho’ again and again

S.S. Rajamouli was super excited about bringing two big superstars of South cinema, Ram Charan and Junior NTR together on the big screen for a magnum opus like RRR. Needless to say, the filmmaker was also very particular about the music for the film. Just like his last blockbuster Baahubali, the music of RRR too gained momentum. In fact, the song ‘Nacho Nacho’ became viral on social media. But the filmmaker confessed exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, that the process was no-where near easy. In fact, he had to be quite strict to get it perfect.

Explaining why they decided to synchronize the steps of Ram Charan and Junior NTR for ‘Nacho Nacho’ in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, S.S. Rajamouli said, “One thing is for the last 30 or 40 years, you haven't seen a multi star, right and now, you're watching it. When I say multi stars, I mean two big stars coming together. And this is the only dance sequence that I have in this film. So obviously, audiences want to see something that is really, really unique. Both of them are great dancers, in fact, both of them are like top notch dancers. But what if they do the steps exactly the similar way?”

He further went on to speak about the difficulties they faced during the practice session adding, “Let me tell you this step itself is not a difficult thing to do. It is not like a very, very difficult step to do. And for them, it is like they can get it in like, say 510 minutes, 10 minutes, 1015 minutes, they can get this. It's not such a difficult step. But to do exactly the same way to exactly synchronize in a way – I mean it gives us such a pleasure for the audience to watch these two starts doing it exactly the same way. I told them for that purpose, not that I want to trouble them. And really I never mentioned to them during the shooting, but really, my heart was twisting with pain when I saw them. They were trying so hard to get that. But I can't express that. At the point of time, I have to just be like a strict wooden face and say, No, you have to get it right. But I really felt bad that I made them do that so many times.”

RRR is a period action drama set in the 1920s. It features an ensemble cast including Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran in pivotal roles. The film released on March 25, 2022 and garnered an immense response at the box office.
