Rishab Shetty says, “Let the reverence be for the gods” as he talks about people treating him like a ‘divine entity’

en Bollywood News Rishab Shetty says, “Let the reverence be for the gods” as he talks about people treating him like a ‘divine entity’

Rishab Shetty recalled the extensive way people have treated him like a ‘divine entity’, requesting them to treat him only as an artiste.

Rishab Shetty along with Hombale Films are planning to create Kantara as a franchise considering that there is a lot to explore about the folklore. Readers may be aware that the 2022 film was a fantasy drama with supernatural elements that presented the story of Panjurli Daiva, with Rishab Shetty in a shockingly different and unique avatar. The film showcased Rishab's character as a demi-god of sorts with extreme powers and many people started recognizing him as the avatar he portrayed on screen. Although humbled by the response, Rishab has asserted that he is only an actor who is performing as per the script.

In a recent interaction Rishab threw light on audience reaction he gets when he steps out, due to his role of Daiva he played in Kantara. He said, "I really don't know how to react to all this. It's been close to two years since Kantara was released.” He continued, "At events, so many people come and fall at my feet and treat me with so much reverence. I feel at a loss for words when such things happen. I'm not some divine entity. I am just an actor. What you saw in Kantara, was the character I played. That person is not me. I owe it to the daivas and people for showering me with love. But treat me like an artiste. Let the reverence be for the gods!"

Meanwhile, the actor shared his excitement about the second film of the franchise that is in works and also gave insight about the progress of this movie titled Kantara: Chapter 1. He shared, "A team of 600 people have been working non-stop for four months in my hometown in Keradi to put up sets for Kantara: Chapter 1. I've not had a single moment to rest, but no complaints!" He also went on to add, "Considering the kind of expectations audiences have from this, we decided that they must have a fully loaded visual treat. So in portions that VFX is required, we wanted to enlist the best, so the studio that worked on films like Lion King and The Chronicles of Narnia are on board and the work has been split up and going on briskly across the world including the US, UK and Bengaluru."

With the film already on floors, we hear that the makers are keen on releasing Kantara: Chapter 1 this year itself. In fact, the movie will be releasing in multiple languages including Bengali, Hindi, and English.
