Rajinikanth, who is gearing up for some interesting ventures this year, recently was assigned grandfather duties at his grandson Ved’s birthday. Ved, who is the son of Soundarya Rajinikanth and her ex-husband Ashwin Kumar, had a cricket-themed birthday bash as he turned 9 and the Tamil superstar was more than happy to play host and even helped out his daughter.
In a video that went viral on social media, audiences got a glimpse of the bash which was hosted on May 6, 2024. The superstar was seen arriving at the venue where he was warmly greeted by his daughter Soundarya and the birthday boy Ved. Apart from them, many from the guests including young kids also rushed towards him and showcased their fan love to the Tamil superstar. The cricket themed birthday bash featured the filmmaker in Chennai Super Kings jersey where her son Ved also sported an Indian cricket team jersey. However, grandfather Rajinikanth arrived in simple shirt and dhoti and even spent quality time with his fans and family.

For the unversed, Soundarya Rajinikanth, who has directed Kochadaiiyaan and later, Velaiilla Pattadhari 2, married Vishagan Vanangamudi in 2019, two years after separating from husband Ashwin Kumar in 2017 and the couple also has a son named Veer.
On the other hand, talking about the superstar Rajinikanth, he is gearing up for the release of Vettaiyan, starring Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and others. It will mark his reunion with superstar Amitabh Bachchan after three decades. The film is slated for release this year. Along with that, the superstar also has a collaboration with Lokesh Kanagaraj, titled Coolie which has gone on floors earlier this year.
