‘Proud’ Prabhas congratulates RRR team for winning dual nominations at Golden Globe Awards; SS Rajamouli extends gratitude

Ram Charan and Jr NTR starrer RRR has secured two nominations at Golden Globe Award, which is set to be held in January 2023.

The SS Rajamouli directorial magnum opus movie RRR seems unstoppable when it comes to breaking records. The Ram Charan and Jr NTR starrer is once again in the spotlight as it bagged dual nominations at the 80th Golden Globe Awards. While fans pour in wishes for the milestone, South sensation Prabhas also congratulated the team.

Hours after the announcement, Prabhas took to his verified social media handle and shared a post to celebrate their big procurement. In the caption, Prabhas wrote, “Feeling so proud as #RRR gets nominated for the #GoldenGlobes Awards. Hearty congratulations to @ssrajamouli garu, @jrntr, @alwaysramcharan and the entire team of @rrrmovie for this achievement.” Reacting to the post, SS Rajamouli wrote, “Thank you Darling. You believed in my international recognition when I myself didn't,” in the comments section.

For the unversed, RRR has secured two nominations under the Best Foreign Film category and the Best Original Song category. It will be competing with All Quiet on the Western Front, Argentina, 1985, Close, and Decision to Leave in the former category. Meanwhile, for the Best Original Song category, the nominated tracks are ‘Carolina’, ‘Ciao Papa’, ‘Hold My Hand’, ‘Lift Me Up’, and ‘Naatu Naatu’. The Golden Globes will be held on January 10, with stand-up comedian Jerrod Carmichael hosting the event.

Simultaneously, director Shekhar Kapur also took to his official Twitter handle and “congratulated” the RRR team. In his tweet, he wrote, “The path to the Oscars for RRR becomes clearer. But I still don’t get why the Golden Globes hold on to a category called ‘Best film in a non English language ?? / RRR deserves to be in the best film category. Period. Congratulations.”

Talking about the film, RRR is a fictional tale set in the 1920s. Along with the above-mentioned stars, the ensemble cast of RRR also features Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris, Samuthirakani, Alison Doody and Ray Stevenson in key roles.
