The trailer of the upcoming series Muthu Alias Kaattaan has been released, offering a closer look at the mysterious world introduced in its teaser earlier this year. The teaser had sparked curiosity with the unsettling discovery of a severed head linked to the character of Muthu, while the new trailer expands on the narrative and introduces multiple perspectives about the man at the centre of the story.
The series is headlined by Vijay Sethupathi and also features Milind Soman, Sudev Nair and Muthukumar in key roles.
Speaking about the project, Vijay Sethupathi said he was immediately drawn to the story when it was first narrated to him.
“When Manikandan first narrated Kaattaan to me, he shared a six-page synopsis. I was instantly hooked by the character and the world he had imagined. Working on this series gave me a real sense of peace as an actor. I truly hope that when audiences watch it, they walk away with something meaningful to reflect on,” he said.

Milind Soman also spoke about what attracted him to the series and his character.
“As someone who is selective about the projects he chooses, Kaattaan stood out for its gripping narrative and bold characters, and Sivettan was a role I couldn’t resist. Working on the series was an absolute thrill — from the immersive sets and sharp direction to collaborating with Vijay Sethupathi and the team. It pushed me creatively,” he said.
The series has been created by National Award-winning filmmaker M. Manikandan, who has also directed it along with B. Ajith Kumar. The visual style of the show is handled by cinematographer Madhu Neelakandan, while the music has been composed by Rajesh Murugesan.
Muthu Alias Kaattaan will begin streaming on JioHotstar from March 27. The series will be available in seven languages — Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi and Bengali.
