The anticipation for Coolie – The Powerhouse has reached fever pitch as the film gears up for its grand release on August 14, 2025. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and headlined by Superstar Rajinikanth, the Tamil-language action thriller is being touted as one of the biggest pan-India spectacles of the year.
At a recent promotional event, Lokesh Kanagaraj — known for blockbusters like Vikram, Leo, Kaithi, and Master — shared his excitement about a particular moment in the film. When asked which scene he’s most eager to see play out with the audience, he immediately pointed to the film’s interval sequence. “It honestly feels surreal,” Lokesh said.
“I grew up admiring Kamal sir, got the opportunity to work with him, and now I’m directing Rajini sir — it’s nothing short of a dream. The kind of precision and effort that has gone into this film is immense. The interval block is my personal favourite, and I’m thrilled to witness the audience’s reaction live.” The director also revealed that Coolie – The Powerhouse has been in the making for over two years, with meticulous planning and execution to ensure that every frame delivers maximum impact.
Produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, Coolie boasts a dream ensemble cast alongside Rajinikanth. The lineup includes Bollywood icon Aamir Khan, Telugu superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni, Kannada legends Upendra and Rachita Ram, Malayalam star Soubin Shahir, veteran Tamil actor Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan. Supporting roles are played by Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy, and Kaali Venkat.
