While Pushpa 2 – The Rule has become truly iconic in terms of its box office and commercial success, the film continues to land in controversies. After the much talked about Sandhya theatre stampede incident which resulted in legal trouble for Allu Arjun and the Pushpa team, now the latest challenge faced by them is from the Income Tax department. After reports surfaced earlier this week about the raid at Pushpa producers Mythri Movie Makers’ properties, now filmmaker Sukumar too has landed in a similar dilemma.

Sukumar gets escorted from the Hyderabad airport

According to a report published in Sakshi Post, Sukumar was at the Hyderabad airport during the early morning hours of January 22, when he was escorted by the Income Tax officials to his residence, where the raid started. After the same, the filmmaker was accompanied by them to his office as well, where the raid continued for hours. However, the reason or the findings of these raids have been kept under wraps.

Mythri Movie Makers also landed in trouble

Reports on January 21 claimed that a similar incident occurred in the office of Mythri Movie Makers, followed by a series of raids that were conducted at the personal properties of the production house owners , Naveen Yerni and Ravi Shankar. Going by the silence on the matter, many speculated about potential financial irregularities whereas some believe that it may be connected to the substantial financial dealings associated with high-budget film productions such as Pushpa 2.

About Pushpa 2 – The Rule

Taking the franchise of Pushpa ahead, three years after the release of its first instalment in December 2021, Pushpa 2 – The Rule marked the return of Allu Arjun as Pushparaj – the powerful gangster, who was once a small-time sandalwood smuggler. With Rashmika Mandanna as his wife Srivalli, Fahadh Faasil as IPS Officer Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, among others in key roles, the film released in cinemas on December 5, 2024.
