Dulquer Salmaan and Diana Penty starrer Salute’s release postponed due to COVID-19 : Bollywood News

Dulquer Salmaan's upcoming film Salute is the latest film to push its theatrical release in wake of the rising COVID-19 cases in the country. The actor had been dropping glimpses from the film over the past few weeks and increasing the excitement around the investigative thriller. Helmed by Rosshan Andrrews, the film features Dulquer as a cop for the first time. The film also stars Diana Penty in the lead and it will mark her debut in the Malayalam film industry.

On Monday afternoon, Dulquer took to his social media handle to officially announce that the film will not be released on January 14 as scheduled. "We at Wayfarer films are bound to show social responsibility ahead of our personal interests. Just like all of you, we were most excited and eagerly awaiting our next release. Owing to recent developments and the spike in Covid-19 and Omicron cases, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone the release of Salute. We apologise if we’ve disappointed you. But in times like this we must prioritise health and safety,” he wrote.

“We request everyone to stay safe. We will be back. At the earliest. We thank each and every one of you for your support," the actor added who is also producing the film under his banner Wayfarer Films.

Salute is written by screenwriter duo Bobby-Sanjay, who are regular collaborators of Rosshan Andrrews. The film also stars Manoj K Jayan in a pivotal role.
