Saqib confessed that they are at a stage where they share everything with each other and seek each other's advice and opinion. However, Huma was quick to declare that she sometimes uses a filter before sharing anything, as she is not sure whether Saqib’s friend mode is on or his protective brother mode.
Saqib shared that Huma, being the elder one, is more mature and it was she who convinced him to play a gay in Karan Johar’s Bombay Talkies. He said, “I was very happy about being approached by Karan Johar and loved the script but my reservation was regarding that one kissing scene with Randeep Hooda. I had almost declined the offer, when Huma sat me down explained that we are all actors and only portraying a certain character. Forgetting what people will think, I should do it with thorough professionalism like all other scenes in the film. We had a half hour heart-to-heart chat after which I immediately gave my nod to the makers.” Saqib further shared that had it not been for Huma and the ace director Karan Johar, he would have never been able to pull off the role. Saqib went to share that the kiss scene was shot in a small room with very few people and much to his astonishment, was approved in one take.
The two have also had their share of violent fights, where phones were broken, posters of favourite cricket stars torn and once even a new plasma screen broken. Huma shared a rather funny incident, when once while playing cricket the two got into a heated argument and she hurled a season ball which hit him straight on his head, making him instantly collapse with a thud. Rather than being worried about her brother, Huma shouted "Saqib is dead ... bhaago!" Rather than helping him, she wanted to run and escape the fury of their parents.
On speaking of acting abilities, both Huma and Saqib felt that they have a long way to go but staying with a family member who loves them unconditionally is a big support in this city. Also, Huma shared that she doesn’t understand ‘the ganit of stardom’ and she doesn’t think she is a star yet. She only opts for roles and scripts that she likes.
This brother-sister duo, unlike all other siblings, had a barrage of childhood stories and squabbles to share. Huma mentioned that Saqib was a compulsive flirt since his teens and had a girlfriend in every colony in Delhi, to the extent that he sometimes didn’t even spare his own sister's friends and their sisters. Huma shared, “Daayan bhi do ghar chhodti hai, but this boy was so useless that he would hit on my best friend's sister, who was like my sister!” Huma would then go around telling these girls that her brother was not a good guy and they deserve someone much better.
Amidst several celebrities who have been a part of the chat show ‘Yaaron Ki Baarat’ where they get an opportunity to showcase their off screen camaraderie with co-actors, yet another Jodi that recently graced the show was none other than the brother-sister duo Saqib Saleem and Huma Qureshi.
Since the show is about testing celebrity friendships through a series of games, tasks, challenges, this brother-sister duo are seen making confessions, revealing interesting incidents and mostly importantly talk about their journey from hating each other in their wonder years to having become best of friends now. The duo are not just siblings but are also roommates since the two live together in Mumbai away from their family, who are settled in Delhi. It was only after shifting together that they became buddies.
