IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond has opened up about Tom Cruise’s anger over the lack of screens available for Mission Impossible 7.

Hollywood megastar Tom Cruise, who recently released the full-length trailer of the action-packed movie, Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning: Part One, is gearing up for the release of his next. Helmed by Christopher McQuarrie, the seventh installment in the franchise is the longest one yet. However, the movie is facing a crisis with IMAX screens as Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has grabbed many of them in the US. Reportedly, Cruise is facing conflict as Oppenheimer takes over IMAX screens for three weeks upon its release on July 12. Now, IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond has opened up about Tom Cruise’s anger over the lack of screens available for Mission Impossible 7.

Speaking with Variety, Gelfond addressed Cruise's anger and said, “I feel sad in a way we can’t accommodate all of them. I know Mission: Impossible is going to be a really big movie. Nolan has a special place in Imax’s heart because he uses our cameras and promotes us. It’s not a matter of us saying which we can make more money on. I would hope after Oppenheimer’s run, we can bring back Mission.”

As previously reported by IGN, the movie’s runtime clocks two hours and 36 minutes without credits. It surpasses 2018's Mission: Impossible Fallout, which had a runtime of 2 hours and 27 minutes.

This time, Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, and Simon Pegg reprise their roles whereas he is joined by Hayley Atwell. In Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part One, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: To track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan's past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most.

Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part One will open on July 12, 2023, with Paramount and Skydance. Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part II will hit theaters on June 28, 2024.
