Nick Jonas recalls being addressed as ‘Jiju’ when he was in Mumbai with Priyanka Chopra Jonas; reacts to being called ‘Nickwa’

Priyanka Chopra Jonas recently did a quick trip to her home-country to attend her cousin and co-actress Parineeti Chopra’s engagement function without Nick Jonas. The latter has been promoting his album with his brothers and recently he attended an interview with BBC Asian Network Breakfast Show, where his interviewer asked him about his recent visit to India for the NMACC inaugural event. The interviewer also addressed him as ‘jiju’ which was one of the popular nicknames given to the American pop star by the Indian paparazzi.

Many celebrities from India and across the world attended the prestigious inauguration of Nita Mukesh Ambani Culture Centre in Mumbai and among them was also Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra. Readers would recall that videos from the event of the Indian paparazzi addressing Hollywood celebrities by giving them quirky nicknames had gone viral on social media. Nick too was being addressed with names like ‘jiju’ (brother-in-law) and ‘Nickwa’ the interviewer quizzed him about his reaction to the nicknames given to him.

Responding to it Nick said, “We were just in Mumbai recently for the cultural centre the Ambanis opened and it was a great event. All the photographers on the red carpet were calling me ‘jiju’." To which the interviewer added, “They were calling you something else also. Did you hear that?" She played an audio with a paparazzo screaming, “Aey, Nick-waa…" Nick answered, “I did hear that. It was very good to be back. I love India. It’s been a couple of years because of Covid since I was there. So, this was a fun trip. Great to hear all the nicknames that I have now.”

Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas had arrived in Mumbai along with their daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas to attend the NMACC inaugural event. Along with him, among other international celebrities were Tom Holland, Zendaya, Gigi Hadid, Kat Grahams, among others.
