Sony Pictures Entertainment, in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, has unveiled the first trailer of Masters of the Universe, officially marking the return of the iconic He-Man franchise to the big screen. The live-action adaptation is slated for a theatrical release in Indian cinemas on June 5, 2026.
Directed by Travis Knight, the film reimagines the popular animated universe as a large-scale sci-fi action adventure. The story follows Prince Adam, played by Nicholas Galitzine, who has been separated from his home planet Eternia for 15 years. His return is triggered by the mystical Sword of Power, which draws him back to a world now under the tyrannical control of Skeletor, portrayed by Jared Leto.
As Eternia faces imminent destruction, Adam reunites with his trusted allies Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan, also known as Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba). The narrative charts Adam’s journey as he accepts his destiny and transforms into He-Man, the most powerful warrior in the universe, to confront Skeletor and reclaim his shattered world.
The film boasts an expansive ensemble cast including Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, and Charlotte Riley. Kristen Wiig lends her voice to the character of Roboto, adding another familiar name to the project. Backed by Amazon MGM Studios, and Mattel Studios, the film aims to bring emotional depth alongside spectacle, while staying rooted in the legacy of the original franchise.
Masters of the Universe will release theatrically in IMAX and other premium formats. Indian audiences will be able to watch the film in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, with Sony Pictures Entertainment India handling the local release.
