Lee Junho, Kim Hye Joon, Kim Byung Chul and Kim Hyang Gi to lead Netflix’s superhero series Cashero

Netflix's upcoming Korean drama Cashero boasts a star-studded cast and a unique premise based on the webtoon of the same name. The series was officially announced on April 18 and stars Lee Junho, Kim Hye Joon, Kim Byung Chul, and Kim Hyang Gi. Director Lee Chang Min, whose past works include Agency and the comedic series Welcome to Waikiki, takes the helm, while the screenplay is penned by Lee Je In and Cheon Chan Ho, the duo behind the sci-fi drama Sisyphus: The Myth.

According to a report in the publication Soompi, the series centers around Kang Sang Woong (played by Lee Junho), an ordinary government employee who leads a fairly unremarkable life. But everything changes when he inherits a peculiar supernatural ability: his strength is directly proportional to the amount of cash he holds. This means saving the world comes at a hefty price – literally emptying his wallet.

Kang Sang Woong is a man with simple dreams – owning his own home. But fate throws a superhero curveball his way. We can expect to see Lee Junho portray the protagonist's struggles as he grapples with his newfound abilities and the financial strain of using them.

Supporting Kang Sang Woong is his longtime girlfriend, Kim Min Sook, played by Kim Hye Joon. Kim is a grounded and analytical individual who prioritizes efficiency above all else. Her sharp wit and talent with numbers will likely come in handy when dealing with Kang Sang Woong's unbelievable abilities. While she might find his superhero work unconventional, she's undoubtedly his biggest supporter.

Adding another layer to the story is Byun Ho In, played by the versatile Kim Byung Chul. Byun is a lawyer with a secret – his supernatural powers activate when he drinks. He's a crucial player in the narrative, acting as a counterpoint to a mysterious organization that hunts down those with extraordinary abilities. Recognizing Kang Sang Woong's unique talent, Byun Ho In proposes a partnership to tackle the world's problems together.

Rounding out the team is Bang Eun Mi, played by the talented Kim Hyang Gi. Bang possesses a power fueled by her calorie intake, adding another layer of quirkiness to the team dynamic. Her fearless and slightly shameless personality promises a fun contrast to the other characters, making their synergy all the more intriguing.

Cashero offers a refreshing take on the superhero genre. It injects humor and relatable struggles into the narrative, with the financial constraints Kang Sang Woong faces adding a layer of grounded reality.
