Martin Scorsese to direct Frank Sinatra biopic starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence

Age ain't nothin' but a number, as the saying goes, and in Hollywood, a group of veteran directors are proving that adage true. Martin Scorsese, at 81, is a prime example. After critical acclaim for last year's Killers of the Flower Moon, he's mapped out his next two films: a religious epic and a star-studded biopic.

According to a report in Variety, Scorsese's Life of Jesus will be independently financed, similar to his 2016 drama Silence. The project is based on Shūsaku Endō's 1973 book, and rumours suggest Andrew Garfield or Miles Teller might be involved. Filming is expected to begin this year in Israel, Italy, and Egypt, with some logistical hurdles anticipated due to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Meanwhile, Martin Scorsese's second project tackles the life of Frank Sinatra. The report reveals that Leonardo DiCaprio is eyed to portray the legendary singer, with Jennifer Lawrence as his second wife, Ava Gardner.

Tina Sinatra, however, controls her father's estate and hasn't greenlit the film yet. Despite this, the A-list cast has major studios and streamers vying for the project. Apple, which financed Killers of the Flower Moon, is interested, but Sony seems to be the frontrunner.
