Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston to star in Palm Springs director Max Barbakow’s body-swap comedy at Amazon

Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston are set to headline the body swap comedy from Palm Springs director Max Barbakow who will write and direct the feature. According to Deadline, LuckyChap Entertainment, the production label of Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara, will produce alongside Roberts and her Red Om Films banner, Aniston’s Echo Films, and Barbakow.

Amazon Studios reportedly won “a heated auction among four other studios and streamers.” As the report notes, Amazon was in the bidding for the Sundance hot title Flora and Son, and won the auction for Red Shirt, starring Channing Tatum.

There are currently no further details announced about the story that will see Aniston and Roberts swapping bodies. The upcoming comedy, which was reportedly pitched early last week, comes following the surprise box office success of Ticket to Paradise, the comedy that re-teamed Roberts with George Clooney.

Barbakow debuted with and best known for 2020’s time loop comedy starring Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti. Barbakow will also be producing alongside Roberts and her Red Om Films banner as well as Aniston’s Echo Films.

Meanwhile, while Roberts is freshly coming off the successful rom-com Ticket to Paradise, Aniston will next return with Adam Sandler for the Netflix movie Murder Mystery 2. The sequel is set to be released at the end of March.
