South Korean celebrities like pop titans BTS’ Jimin and J-Hope, NCT’s Haechan and Mark, Suzy, TWICE, Ji Chang Wook and some agencies gave all made some generous donations to Turkey and Syria earthquake relief efforts.
According to the Korean tabloid Soompi, on February 13, Community Chest of Korea announced that NCT’s Haechan had donated 100 million won (over Rs. 64.28 lakhs) to victims of the earthquake. His donation will be used for temporary shelters and also support food kits, tents, blankets, and other heating supplies.
Song Yoon Ah and Sol Kyung Gu made a donation of 50 million won (over Rs. 32.14 lakhs) and Suzy donated 100 million won (over Rs. 64.28 lakhs) to the Korean Committee for UNICEF. The contributions will aid in the physical and mental healing of those impacted and aid in the reconstruction of the futures of children in Turkey and Syria.
Agencies like SM Entertainment made a donation of 200 million won (over Rs. 1.28 crores) to Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association which will help provide relief supplies and fund the reconstruction of affected areas. HYBE contributed 500 million won (over Rs. 3.21 crores) to NGO Save the Children.
The organization plans to put this donation towards temporary shelters to protect children and other necessary items like blankets, clothing, water, food, medical supplies, and hygiene kits. Feel GHood Music and its artists Tiger JK, Yoon Mi Rae, and BIBI also donated 40 million won (over Rs. 25.71 lakhs) to NGO Doctors Without Borders.
According to NGO The Promise, ITZY’s Ryujin made a donation of 50 million won (over Rs. 32.14 lakhs) that will be used to locate victims, provide emergency relief, and fund psychological support programs for victims. TWICE donated 200 million won (over Rs 1.28 crores) to NGO Save the Children, who will use their contribution for temporary shelter, water, hygienic products, first aid items, and more.
On February 14, Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association shared that (G)I-DLE’s leader Jeon Soyeon also donated 20 million won (over Rs 12.85 lakhs) for relief supplies and reconstruction. Starship Entertainment and artist IVE have both shared a donation of 150 million won (over Rs. 96 lakhs) to global children’s rights NGO Good Neighbors.
The contribution will be used for winter clothing, tents, sleeping bags, and other relief supplies. Ji Chang Wook and BTS’s J-Hope, Jimin – who are now members of UNICEF’s Honors Club – have each donated 100 million won (over Rs 64.28 laksh) to the Korean Committee for UNICEF. These donations will be used to help protect, hydrate, educate, and feed children in the affected areas.
NCT member Mark also made a donation of 150 million won (over Rs 96.42 lakhs) to Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association. As per the report, Mark’s donation was made with a personal form and his good deed was only revealed due to the association having the verify the identities of major donors.
Yoo Jae Suk donated 100 million won (over Rs 64.28 lakhs) to Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association.
