Why is Ra. One all about Shah Rukh Khan? : Bollywood News

Are Kareena and Arjun being ignored by Shah Rukh for way too long now? With July kick-starting, the countdown has begun for Ra.One with less than four months remaining for the film's Diwali release. However, till date it is only Shah Rukh Khan whom one has seen in this superhero sci-fi film with Kareena as well as Arjun missing out on all the 'action'. Pun intended.

Why is Ra. One all about Shah Rukh Khan?

"Shah Rukh and his team initiated buzz for Ra.One more than two months back. Ever since then even though multiple announcements and events have been made, they have all been centred on Shah Rukh and only Shah Rukh. The entire focus has been on how he along with director Anubhav Sinha have worked on exploring the superhero genre. In the process Kareena as well as Arjun seem to have been kept on a backburner", says a source.

The maker's argument is that this is a conscious move as the concept of an Indian superhero is new for the 'desi' audience. Due to this it is imperative that they are introduced to the feel of Ra.One and only after that 'other elements' are exposed.

"The central female protagonist can't just be 'another element'", argues the source, "Kareena is a numero uno female superstar and deserves to be seen in more than just a fleeting shot. As for Arjun then come on, he is the prime antagonist and is actually playing Ra.One. How can you not have him as part of the plan? Can someone explain?"

The makers aren't shying away from lending an explanation though. On contacted, Anubhav says, "It is very simple for you and I to talk about video games, superheroes, sci-fi etc. and hence feel good that we are ready for the film. But how about the interiors of the country? You have to tell them as well what we have made, right? There hasn't been a superhero film like this before. Obviously we have to talk a step by step approach."

How about Kareena and Arjun not joining Shah Rukh in walking these steps?

"They are aware about the entire strategy and the entire process has evolved in front of them", reveals Anubhav, "Shah Rukh isn't the kind of person who either short-changes anyone or keeps anyone in suspense. Kareena and Arjun knew in advance they would step in at a later stage. They understand exactly what they have to do. No one has been taken by any surprise."

Hope Kareena and Arjun nod in approval as well with this argument.
