Madhur Bhandarkar's next film Main, Indu, which is set during emergency (1975-1977) could well have Vidya Balan, Kangna Ranaut or Anushka Sharma as the central protagonist. If insiders are to be believed, these three top actresses who are known for their inherent talent are in strong consideration for the part.
"Madhur Bhandarkar wants his heroine to be someone with great acting skills. Out of many names that are being suggested, the ones top-lining the list are Vidya Balan, Kangna Ranaut and Anushka Sharma. Each of them has proved their mettle already. In fact Kangna also won a National Award for her performance inFashion," an insider comments.
Those who have had a dekko at the script of Main, Indu insist that this is yet another National Award winning role waiting to be grabbed. The story revolves around a poetess who stammers, but makes some powerful statements.
"For last 4-5 months, Madhur Bhandarkar has been actively researching on the subject. Emergency was one of the most sensitive times for the country and there cannot be any room for complacency or error in bringing forth any tale set back then. Madhur has been making the rounds of quite a few writers from that era who have great knowledge of what happened then. He has put together quite a few events and incidents to spin the tale around Main, Indu. Now to live those times, he needs an actress who is intelligent enough to grab the character and the situations in a big way and look and act convincingly for screen," our source adds.
While one waits to see how do the shortlisted leading ladies react to the part, Madhur is quite kicked about starting the film later this year. In fact so much so that he has even put on hold Chandni Bar 2 and Fashion 2, both of which were otherwise waiting to be green-lighted.
"Madhur is set to reinvent himself and Main, Indu is going to be a new beginning," a close associate of the filmmaker adds.
We look forward to that.
