Though there have been many leading men in the industry who have graduated from the world of television to films (Shah Rukh Khan leads the show and in the recent times, Sushant Singh Rajput and Ayushmann Khurranna are making it big too), ironically not many girls have managed to cross this barrier. The only actress who managed to make it big has been Vidya Balan and though Prachi Desai has been around for a while, one waits to see how her Bollywood career shapes up from this point on.
While that is the story of the past, another girl who is now trying out her luck in Bollywood, after spending some time on the small screen, is Sonarika Bhadoria.
“She is most famous for playing Maa Parvati in Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev. Back then, she was just starting out. Soon enough though, she started eyeing the big screen and hence took a break from the small screen,” informs our source.
The break lasted a good couple of years and while she was knocking the doors of Bollywood, those in South found her to be pretty promising and roped her in for a few films.
“Sonarika has already made her big screen debut with a Telugu film and has seen a couple of more releases. In fact she is also awaiting the release of one more Tamil and Telugu film each. In that sense, she is not new to camera. Now with Saansein – The Last Breath, she would be making her Bollywood debut though,” the source continues.
In the film, Sonarika plays a singer at a night club who disappears mysteriously every night. The leading man Rajniesh Duggall aims at unveiling the mystery and other actors like Hiten Tejwani and Neetha Shetty have pivotal roles to play as well.
“The film is a complete contrast to the work that she has done in the past,” our insider from the film adds, “She is playing a character around whom the film revolves and it has very sensitive connotation to it. She is not fooling around or having fun; there is a deep suspense element to her character and there is a good dose of sadness attached to it all. It is a tailor-made role for Sonarika.”
A few weeks back she was also in news for some of the bold pictures that she had shared on social media, something that was in complete contrast to her image on television.
“Well, shouldn’t that be the case with an actor,” questions the insider, “You can’t be forever trapped in the image of a mythological character that you have played on screen. Moreover, what is bold for you could well be regular for her! When on a beach, you are bound to don beach wear, right?”
While that indeed makes sense, one looks forward to how Sonarika has excelled as a performer in the horror musical which releases all over this Friday.
