Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Anya Singh, Medha Rana, Anya Singh, Bhushan Kumar, Nidhi Dutta, Anurag Singh and others attended the success press meet of their film Border 2 at a five-star hotel in Mumbai. It was one of the best events of the year as the actors gave headline-worthy quotes, raised laughs and also touched the hearts of the press as they shared their emotional experiences. Varun Dhawan was massively trolled before the film’s release and all the trolling stopped once it came to light that the actor had delivered one of the best performances of his career. The actor opened up about it for the first time and also revealed that superstar Salman Khan offered him support.
Varun said, “The ones that stand with you in such times are very important. One such person is Salman bhai. He called me at night. He was laughing over what was happening and then said, ‘Good things are about to come’! His advice and belief meant a lot to me. When Border 2 was released and it did so well, he again called me. He told me, ‘I am so happy for all of you’. Then he said something that stays close to my heart. It was 2 am and when he told me that, main literally bed pe khada ho gaya! He said, ‘I am proud of you, beta’! That was a very defining moment for me as he doesn’t praise people easily.”
Varun Dhawan continued, “He didn’t have to do that. But he gave me a lot of confidence and at the end of the day, I believed in the film and Lord Krishna.”
A journalist asked Varun about his wife Natasha Dalal’s reaction. He replied, “My wife saw the film and she was very happy. She told me, ‘I always knew that you have it in yourself. You just have to challenge yourself’. She advised me, ‘Zyada post mat karo. Zyada dikho mat. Zyada bolo mat. She also says that ghar pe bhi zyada bolo mat. Bahar bhi bolti hai ki zyada bolo mat (smiles). Sunny sir aur dharam patni same baat bol rahe hai’ (laughs).”
