Christmas holds a deeply personal and nostalgic meaning for Tara Sutaria, and the actress recently opened up about the traditions, food, and rituals that make the festive season special for her. From heirloom décor collected over decades to elaborate family recipes that take days to prepare, Tara’s celebrations are rooted in warmth, gratitude and togetherness.
Speaking about her family’s long-standing customs, Tara shared how Christmas cooking is a legacy passed down through generations. “My Nani (maternal grandmother) makes the traditional Christmas pudding every year, at least 20 of them, which we gift to close friends and family. My mother followed the tradition and it's wonderful that I can now share it with my friends. My family has been collecting decor for our Christmas tree from around the world for 60 years, and I keep adding to it during my travels. So, I love decorating with a mix of the old and new.”
Food, unsurprisingly, plays a central role in the Sutaria household. Detailing the effort that goes into their festive meals, the actress said, “The family recipe for roasted turkey and potatoes takes two and half days to make. Its laborious but worth the effort. We have glazed ham, cranberry and apple sauce, macaroni and cheese is a crowd favourite.” She also revealed that every family member contributes in their own way, adding, “Each year her dad makes brandied cream while she tried her hand at pecan pie this year which was a hit.”

This year’s Christmas was also marked by lively celebrations with friends and family. Referring to Veer Pahariya as her ‘beloved’, Tara spoke about hosting an intimate yet vibrant gathering at her home. “I had close friends and my beloved's friends and family over. There were lots of singing and dancing. I enjoy playing music from the 60s and 70s at my parties. I also love decorating with flowers and tablescapes. Anyone close to me knows candles are a big part of my parties. The theme this year was very Ralph Lauren, deep reds and greens, Scottish plaid tartan decor,” she said.

She also highlighted a meaningful ritual that brings everyone together at the dinner table. “Each member at the dinner table saying something they are grateful for because Christmas is the time to give thanks.”
Not too long ago, Tara hosted a lavish Christmas party attended by several industry friends, including Veer Pahariya, Bhumi Pednekar and Himesh Reshammiya. The actress shared glimpses of the décor, festive spread and her own look from the celebration on social media, giving fans a peek into her Christmas 2025 festivities and setting major holiday inspiration goals.
