Aditya Roy Kapur received rave reviews for his act as the titular character in the recently-released Disney+ Hotstar show The Night Manager, which also starred Anil Kapoor and Sobhita Dhulipala in pivotal roles. Gumraah, his upcoming film, will also see him in an out-and-out action role. He will be playing a double role for the first time in his career.

Debutant director Vardhan Ketkar is all praise for Aditya after having worked with him on the film. “Directing Aditya was an exciting proposition, from the get-go. I knew that his intensity, flare and conviction towards the craft were going to be a boon for the film as it’s a thriller. What surprised me the most was Aditya Roy Kapur’s in-depth study of the two different characters and his relentless effort to better every minute detail/ nuance of each character that made them stand apart. I’m sure you’ll enjoy and appreciate that in the film,” said the director in a statement.

Ketkar is also personally fascinated by the concept of double roles. “I’ve always loved films with double roles or split personalities. So, when it came to the dual role, what I enjoyed the most was designing the distinct characteristics of the two characters,” he added.

Also starring Mrunal Thakur and Ronit Roy and produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios, Gumraah is all set to release in theatres on April 7.
