Actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood recently fell victim to an incident involving deepfake technology, as scammers attempted to exploit his image for fraudulent purposes. The actor received a screen recording of a deepfake video call, showcasing an impersonator engaging with a family in need. The imposter assured them of financial assistance for medical treatment, using Sonu Sood's likeness to establish credibility.

Expressing his shock and concern, Sonu Sood took to his social media handle to share the incident with his followers. The actor posted a video on his Instagram story, shedding light on the dangers of deepfake technology being employed by scamsters. In the video, Sonu Sood explained that someone attempted to extort money from a family by engaging with them through a video call, posing as the actor himself.

Regarding the same, Sonu Sood urged the public to exercise caution and remain vigilant when receiving unexpected video calls or messages. In his Instagram story, he wrote, “This is the latest incident where someone tried to extract money from an unsuspecting family by chatting with them through video call pretending to be Sonu Sood. Many innocent individuals fall into this trap. I request all of you to be vigilant if you receive such calls.”

In terms of his career, Sonu Sood is actively involved in the production of the movie Fateh.
