Persistence, perseverance, patience – each of three P’s is paying off well for Kartik Aaryan who has gradually moved on from the image of ‘woh monologue waala hero’. While Pyaar Ka Punchnama 1 & 2 will forever stay on to be the crowning glory for the youngster, there are other franchises, remakes and sequels that are going to keep him super busy for the next 12 months.
Latest in this list is horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 which has Kartik Aaryan step in as a ghostbuster no less. A franchise that is now being carried forward by the youngster, it has quite some legacy going for it. To begin with, the film itself was a remake of Rajinikanth starrer Chandramukhi, which again had its origin in Malayalam hit Manichitrathazhu. While Akshay Kumar introduced the concept at an all-India level through Bhool Bhulaiyaa in 2007, Kartik Aaryan is now taking it forward via the second part of the series. A lot depends on the success of this film as that would be the deciding factor for the franchise to continue into the third part and the trade is sure that with the heartthrob tag attached to him, Kartik Aaryan and the entire team of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 would do justice to it.
Then there is a remake in the form of Pati Patni Aur Woh which is keeping Kartik busy. While he is shooting for the film currently with Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday to make it ready for the winter release, rest assured his Chintu Tyagi act would be much mimicked when it is unveiled in front of the audience. Late Sanjeev Kumar had his own inimitable style when he played the part of a philandering husband in the situational comedy and given Kartik’s prowess in this genre (Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety being last such affair), one can be assured of smiles and laughs galore.
Immediately after that would arrive second part of the Love Aaj Kal franchise which is being helmed by Imtiaz Ali again. Now this is one film which is sure to test Kartik further as an actor as it is expected to be intense, dramatic and of course romantic. Yes, there are light moments galore too in this Valentine’s Day release which has Sara Ali Khan opposite Kartik. Still given the fact that this is an Imtiaz Ali film, there would be subtexts for sure and Kartik has a job in hand to bring those nuances in front of the camera.
There would be different kind of nuances on display though for Karan Johar’s Dostana 2, second in the Dostana franchise. This time around, the fun would be double as instead of imitating as a gay, the central protagonist played by Kartik is actually supposed to be a gay. This isn’t all as buzz in the B-town is that he and Janhvi Kapoor play siblings in the film and they both fall for the same guy! Well, while we would get to know the ultimate truth behind it all once the film comes closer to the release, rest assured this is going to be a new world altogether for Kartik.
While Pati Patni Aur Woh, Love Aaj Kal 2 (tentative title), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Dostana 2 are just some of the films that would keep his fans and followers happy, rest assured Kartik Aaryan would be bringing in some more surprises too in months to come.
