Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi grabbed 5 awards at IIFA. To be specific, the film won awards for Best Actor in Leading Role (Female) - Alia Bhatt, Best Debut (Male) - Shantanu Maheshwari, Best Screenplay, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Utkarshini Vashishtha, Best Dialogue – Utkarshini Vashishtha and Prakash Kapadia and Best Cinematography - Sudeep Chatterjee.

Gangubai Kathiawadi, was screened at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival last year and it later became the initial authentic hit in the Hindi film industry in 2022.

Gangubai Kathiawadi managed to gross Rs. 129 crores at the domestic box office and Rs. 209.77 crores globally during its theatrical run, making it a massive commercial success. It is noteworthy because the movie had to overcome various obstacles, including the reluctance of audiences to watch films in theatres due to the pandemic, cinema halls operating at only 50% occupancy, and the fact that the movie was led by a female star.
