Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is creating the right kind of noise and receiving positive word of mouth from both critics and audiences. The family entertainer marks filmmaker Karan Johar’s 25th year as a filmmaker. With the film collecting Rs. 45.90 crore in its opening weekend in theatres, the cast and the director are overwhelmed with the response from the audience and the industry alike. Bengali actor Tota Roy Chowdhury, who plays Alia Bhatt’s character Rani Chatterjee’s father in the movie, plays a Kathak dancer in the movie. Unanimously, the audiences have been cheering for the two stars breaking gender norms and making two male stars perform on ‘Dola Re Dola’.

Tota Roy Chowdhary shared a video from the theatre as the audiences cheered during the sindoor khela dance sequence. He wrote, “And the housefull audience breaks into spontaneous applause #Kolkata this evening @karanjohar @ranveersingh.”

Responding to Chowdhary’s post, Ranveer Singh reposted the video on his Instagram story and wrote, “Tota Sir! You are just so, so special! Warms my heart to hear people gushing about you. They're all echoing what lye always felt - The goodness of your soul shines through in your performance! The inherent niceness you brought to Chondon, your preciously warm screen presence, your deeply moving performance, and the spectacular KATHAK! ohhhhhh the Kathak! Feeling so blessed in this moment! Overwhelming gratitude! Thank you for being you, Sir! My love forever and ever.”

Tota Roy Chowdhury re-shared it and wrote, “It has been a privilege to share screenspace with you. You are one of the most talented actors I've worked with but above all you are God's own child- such a beautiful soul.”

The film stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Tota Roy Chowdhury and Churni Ganguly.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is yet to announce his following projects but he is reportedly starring in the third instalment of Don franchise which will be a reboot. He has also signed Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra alongside Alia Bhatt. Both projects are yet to be announced.
