Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has garnered Rs. 73.33 crore in the first week of its release at the box office. Starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, the film is helmed by Karan Johar. Bengali actor Tota Roy Chowdhury, who plays Alia Bhatt’s character Rani Chatterjee’s father in the movie, plays a Kathak dancer. Unanimously, the audiences have been cheering for Tota and Ranveer for breaking gender norms and dancing to the beats of ‘Dola Re Dola’ in the movie.

In a pivotal track in the movie, Ranveer’s character Rocky learns Kathak from Tota’s character. The music has been composed by Pritam who wasn’t quite happy with the way the song turned out. Speaking to Hindustan Times, he said, “I honestly think I didn't do a good job of it. It's the same beats, but just with two male singers. The real contribution to that song is by Ranveer Singh and Tota Roy Chowdhury. And by Jaya Bachchan, who gives those reaction shots. My contribution is zero, negative actually. The original ‘Dola Re Dola’ is far better.”

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is currently running in theatres. It also stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi and Churni Ganguly. It was released in theatres on July 28, 2023.
