The heartfelt initiative by Desh Foundation brought pediatric cancer patients and survivors together for an emotional evening of cinema, courage, and celebration.

Desh Foundation, founded by Genelia Deshmukh and Riteish Deshmukh, recently organized a special screening of Raja Shivaji for over 200 pediatric cancer patients and childhood cancer survivors associated with the ImPaCCT Foundation at Tata Memorial Centre. The event took place on May 12 at an INOX PVR multiplex in Mumbai and aimed to offer the children and their families an evening away from the challenges of hospital life.

The screening was designed as a celebration of resilience, courage, and togetherness, with children currently undergoing treatment joining survivors and caregivers for the special event. The initiative sought to create moments of joy and positivity through cinema, allowing the young attendees to experience a memorable outing in a festive environment.

Adding an emotional touch to the occasion was childhood cancer survivor Shiv More, who attended the screening dressed as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. His appearance symbolized strength and determination, values closely associated with the journeys of many young cancer survivors.

Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh were also seen interacting with the children and spending time with them before the film began. Their presence added to the excitement surrounding the screening, with several families appreciating the opportunity for the children to engage in an uplifting community event outside their medical routines.

The ImPaCCT Foundation at Tata Memorial Centre expressed gratitude toward Desh Foundation and the Deshmukhs for supporting initiatives that focus on emotional well-being and morale-building for children battling cancer.

The event also comes amid the theatrical run of Raja Shivaji, which released on May 1, 2026, coinciding with Maharashtra Day and International Labour Day. Directed and co-written by Riteish Deshmukh, the historical action drama is based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, founder of the Maratha Empire.

Produced under the banner of Mumbai Film Company in collaboration with Jio Studios, the film features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi and Amole Gupte.
