Actor Ridhi Dogra has sparked conversations on social media after sharing a detailed note on marriage, feminism, and evolving relationship dynamics in today’s world. The actress took to Instagram to post a long message addressing both young women and men, while reflecting on how social structures and expectations around marriage have significantly changed over the years.
Sharing the note with her followers, Ridhi captioned the post, “It’s a changing world. Over the past few years, a lot of heart wrenching incidents have happened to boys and girls after marriage.. And no one is guiding us to understand the change in social and psychological conditions. So it’s upon us to tell each other.”
In the post, the actress urged young people to stop idealising marriage through outdated societal lenses. “Young Girls. And young boys”, the note began, before adding, “It’s 2026. Please stop romanticizing marriage. The age of your parents and the world they grew up in has expired. Marriage is not the same.”
Ridhi Dogra also spoke about changing gender roles and how financial independence has transformed relationships today. Addressing men, she wrote, “Boys should know that girls will Not do what you ask them to blindly. Because laws etc has empowered them”. She further added, “Today, They can get a job/a place to stay/an income and live peacefully in society. So they don’t need to follow you and your orders like lambs. Girls don’t need marriage for survival. For companionship. Yes. But not for dependency. Even if they wish to …out of love… Their individuality will try and knock their head time and again. They will be frustrated because the world has changed.”
At the same time, the actress also addressed women, asking them not to expect unrealistic transformations from their partners after marriage. “And girls- pls don’t expect your boyfriends to become Mr Prince Charming after marriage. They are human too and are figuring this new world out. It’s more new for them because they have seen men being men. But society norms have shifted and what was required of them earlier has changed too.”

Ridhi further stressed the importance of self-awareness, individuality, and emotional responsibility in relationships. “Pls don’t expect any fairy tale. Educate yourself. Live for your self. And please stand up for yourself. Don’t expect anyone to come and stand up for you”. Speaking about marriage itself, the actress added, “Marry each other for love and respect. Marry a person you love as a PERSON”. She also spoke strongly about maintaining boundaries in relationships, writing, “And pls keep your parents out of your life. And if you can’t live life without including others. It’s a crowd. A respectful union of marriage is between two. Never more.”
Ridhi Dogra also reflected on feminism and how, according to her, its meaning has often been misunderstood. “The term Feminism has been reduced to shit. But true feminism is just equality. Thats it. Nothing more and nothing less. When I speak for girls I also speak for boys. When I argue for mental Health. It's for both genders. Feminism was never about putting men down.”
Concluding the note on a philosophical and spiritual thought, she wrote, “We are from the land of Shiv and Shakti. Both go together. And the only way that happens …. With love and respect for yourself and for the other” and added, “Let there be Grace and Dignity. For both. Equally.”
For the unversed, Ridhi Dogra was previously married to actor Raqesh Bapat, her co-star from the television show Maryada. The two tied the knot in 2011 before separating in 2019, and they continue to maintain a cordial relationship.
