Richa Chadha is reconnecting with one of her long-standing artistic passions—belly dancing. The actor and producer recently travelled to Goa, where she completed an intensive five-day course aimed at deepening her understanding of the intricate dance form.

On the occasion of International Dance Day, the actress surprised her fans on social media by sharing a video, giving them a glimpse of her belly dancing skills. “Happy dance day. Ladies, dance more. progress over perfection any day. Love this song and the eternal SP. (The first half of the video is before training, the second half you see my kamai in the hands of madam @dipikavijay the great) who has moved to Goa… Great for her, sad for me…. Ok see you later. Mommy got no time for IG now."
Richa’s association with belly dancing dates back several years when she trained in tribal belly dancing under internationally acclaimed expert Olga Meos in Kazakhstan. What initially began as preparation for a special number in a film gradually evolved into a serious personal interest. Known for its focus on core strength and precise body isolations, the dance form became an important medium for both fitness and creative exploration for the actor.

Over time, she continued to refine her skills with Mumbai-based instructor Shaina Lebana, dedicating herself to consistent practice. Even during the lockdown period, Richa stayed committed to her training through online sessions, ensuring she remained connected to the craft.
Apart from belly dancing, Richa also has a strong foundation in classical dance. She is a trained Kathak dancer, having undergone nearly a decade of training during her childhood under Pandit Abhay Shankar Mishra. After taking a brief break due to professional commitments, the actor has now chosen to revisit belly dancing with renewed focus.
Speaking about her return to dance, Richa shared, “I got back to dancing about 6-7 months after my delivery, I got in touch with Dipika Vijay because she is an amazing teacher. What started as an exploration into the use of belly dance as therapy, in my post-partum phase as actually blossomed into a full-blown parallel interest of mine. After a gap of a few years, I felt the urge to reconnect with it in a more dedicated way. This course in Goa is not for a role or a performance; it’s purely for myself, to learn, to grow, and to fall in love with the form all over again.”
With this renewed commitment, Richa Chadha continues to demonstrate that her artistic pursuits extend far beyond cinema, rooted in constant learning, discipline, and a deep passion for the performing arts.
