The Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal has created a rage not just for its performances, violence and shocking content but also for the soundtrack. The songs are melodious and well-woven but what has also impressed the audience is the use of certain tunes and songs. The film begins with the exhilarating instrumental of A R Rahman’s ‘Dil Hai Chota Sa’ from Roja (1992). Then the Ajay-Atul composition ‘Dolby Walya’ from the Marathi film Jaundya Na Balasaheb (2016) added to the mass appeal in the interval block. Lastly, the entry scene of Bobby Deol turned out to be memorable not just due to the visuals but also due to the song played in the background.

REVEALED: The song played in Bobby Deol’s entry in Animal, ‘Jamaal Jamaaloo’, is an old Iranian track

The song in question is called ‘Jamaal Jamaaloo’. It’s an old Iranian song and as per the details on the internet, it is composed by Khatereh Group. The English translation of the lyrics is, ‘Oh my cutie, don't play with my heart; You are leaving, embarking on a journey; And I'm getting crazy; Oh my love, my beloved’.

A YouTube channel had uploaded the song way back on January 9, 2013. Thanks to Animal, its views have got a huge spike as word spread about the name of the song. This prompted fans to check out the catchy track. 90% of the comments on the video are the ones that were posted after Animal’s release. Some uploaded amusing comments that the channel owner must be shocked that the song, which hardly had any views and comments until now, is now getting hundreds of comments and views with each passing day. A few praised director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s unique choice of tunes from different regions of India and the world for Animal.

Most of the comments made before December 1 were in Persian. These comments mostly were about people reminiscing about the bygone era, when the song was recorded.
