It’s a known fact that Raja Krishna Menon of Airlift fame, had decided to adapt Jon Favreau’s film Chef with Saif Ali Khan playing the lead role. Yet another prominent character in the film will be that of Chandan Roy Sanyal who plays a sous chef and also a fan of Saif’s cooking in the film.
Describing his role as a character who is a self-appointed disciple of Saif, Chandan Roy Sanyal plays Nazrul, who works with Saif Ali Khan in a New-York based restaurant and fondly addresses his senior as ‘Guru’. Further, the actor has completed almost seventy percent of the shoot and will now resume the next schedule in January 2017 after a Christmas break, according to Chandan. The character in question played by him was actually portrayed by actor-comedian John Leguizamo in the original film.
Chandan Roy Sanyal was all praises for his Raja Menon who he believes has adapted the film suiting the taste of the audience in the country by adding Indian flavours and food. He also spoke about the good rapport he shares with Saif Ali Khan. He revealed details of a workshop he had taken along with Chhote Nawab where they learned to chop and toss vegetables like a professional chef.
The Hindi remake of Chef has been shot in varied locations in the country which are famous for food which included Kerala, Goa, Amritsar and Delhi.
