The mother-daughter duo marked the onset of the festival with Animal Rahat, highlighting the need for compassion and promoting animal welfare.

Actor Raveena Tandon and her daughter Rasha Thadani kicked off Holi celebrations on a meaningful note this year. The duo joined hands with animal protection organisation Animal Rahat to host a compassionate ‘Phoolon ki Holi’ (Holi with Flowers) and special feast at the group’s Sangli sanctuary.

The celebration was organised for animals rescued from hard labour, slaughter, sacrifice and other forms of cruelty. Instead of colours, the residents of the sanctuary — including bulls, donkeys, horses and goats — were showered with edible flower petals. Videos from the occasion show the animals enjoying fruits and vegetables as part of the festivities. According to Animal Rahat, such celebrations provide mental stimulation and help rescued animals overcome trauma, rebuild trust and feel safe.

Speaking about the initiative, Raveena shared, "The animals at Animal Rahat sanctuaries have endured unimaginable cruelty such as being forced to haul crushing loads, being used in circuses and other abuses. We are deeply honoured to support Animal Rahat's beautiful Phoolon ki Holi celebration that surrounds these survivors with the safety, comfort, and kindness they deserve. We thank Animal Rahat for honouring the true spirit of Holi in the most compassionate way."

Rasha added, "Simple acts of kindness can change an animal's life. Thank you to the entire Animal Rahat team for leading by example and showing how festivals can be joyful without causing harm. We hope everyone chooses to celebrate Holi with empathy and love for all beings."

Animal Rahat operates across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, providing free veterinary care, responding to animal emergencies, and promoting humane education in schools. The organisation also works to replace gruelling bullock- and donkey-driven labour with mechanisation in industries such as sugar factories and brick kilns, while running four sanctuaries for rescued animals.

On the professional front, Raveena Tandon continues to stay active with upcoming projects including Welcome To The Jungle, Maa Vande, and a slice-of-life Netflix film with Kapil Sharma. Meanwhile, Rasha Thadani, after her debut in Azaad, has films like Laikey Laikaa and her Tollywood debut #AB4 lined up. Together, their public appearances reflect a balance between their individual careers and shared philanthropic efforts, with animal welfare remaining a cause close to their hearts.
