Actor Raveena Tandon has opened up about her much-discussed past with Akshay Kumar, years after their relationship and reported engagement made headlines in the 1990s. The actor also addressed Akshay’s past link-up rumours with Shilpa Shetty, saying time has helped everyone move forward.
Raveena and Akshay were among the most talked-about Bollywood couples back then, with their breakup becoming a major point of media attention. Soon after, Akshay was linked to several actresses, including Shilpa, with whom he shared screen space in multiple films. In a recent interview with Zoom, Raveena spoke about the old narratives and said, “We’ve all become friends. We all were young. We’re all in the same industry.” She added that such phases are common in showbiz, saying, “Who’s not gone through link-ups, breakups and relationships?”
Raveena made it clear that there is no bitterness left between them today, and said she shares a cordial bond not just with Akshay but also with Shilpa. “Today, Akshay and I are friends. Shilpa and I are friends. We’ve all moved on,” she said, adding that they are happy in their respective lives and families.
The actress also pointed out that all three have settled into different chapters of life. Raveena is married to film distributor Anil Thadani, while Akshay is married to author and former actor Twinkle Khanna. Shilpa, on the other hand, is married to businessman Raj Kundra. The actor also recalled how her male co-stars were extremely protective of her in the past. In a light-hearted moment, she joked, “Akki, Sanju, Salman and Sunny have bashed up someone for me.”
Raveena and Akshay are set to reunite on screen in the upcoming film Welcome to the Jungle, which features a large ensemble cast.
