“Ranbir Kapoor was the second most informed person on the sets of Rockstar,” says Imtiaz Ali; recalls sharing his dirty secrets and vulnerabilities with him : Bollywood News

The month of November seems to be full of celebrations for actor Ranbir Kapoor as he welcomed his first child with actress wife Alia Bhatt on November 6. Not only this, but today, he also completed 15 years in the entertainment industry. For the unversed, Ranbir’s debut project, Saawariya, was released on November 9 in 2007. Celebrating the occasion, director Imtiaz Ali recalled his first meet and experience of working with RK in Rockstar and Tamasha.

In a letter, published by Indian Express, Imtiaz Ali remembered when he met Ranbir for the first time when the latter was a kid. Ali stated that Kapoor looked like a “typical star kid”, wearing formal clothes. “Years later, we met and did Rockstar, followed by Tamasha,” wrote the director.

“Before Rockstar, Ranbir and I had spent a lot of time together. We deliberately broke the ice between us, shared our dirty secrets, our vulnerabilities, we confessed to each other all the sh*t we were doing at that point of time. That way, we gained each other’s confidence. I had to watch his back, as he had my back too,” read an excerpt of his write-up.

The Love Aaj Kal director further added, “If I was the most informed person on set, then he was the second most informed person about the film. He is like an assistant director. We united over the fact that we were the flag bearers of the film, tiny details like costume of other characters to the entire spirit of the film.”

On the other hand, the 51-year-old director also dedicated his letter to Deepika Padukone as she also completed 15 years in Bollywood on the same day. Lauding both actors, Ali concluded by writing, “They are very, very pure artists. What makes them unique is that they love acting so much that they don’t have to put an effort into it.”
