The much-awaited ‘Rama’ glimpse from Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, was unveiled at Mumbai’s PVR IMAX Lower Parel in the presence of producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari. Fans were also invited along with the media and everyone was left spellbound watching the asset on the giant IMAX screen. The 3D is also spectacularly done and it added to the impact.
After the teaser was unveiled twice, Namit Malhotra addressed the crowd. He began by chanting ‘Jai Hanuman’, as the event was held on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. He then said, “For many years, we have been putting this film together with a lot of love. Finally, it is going out into the world. Nitesh and the entire team have worked very hard on this labour of love. I am incredibly proud of what we have created. I hope you all loved it too.”
The audience clapped as he stated, “Also, it’s fair to say that you don’t pick Ramayana. The Ramayana picks you.”
Namit further said, “When I told my parents that we were going to make this film happen, my mother, who’s a big Shri Rama believer, told me, ‘This was written in your destiny. Anyone could have made Ramayana. This is the story that resides in the hearts of every Indian. Whatever you have done until now, in 30 years, it’s the sum of all your experiences’. I want to thank whoever above has chosen Nitesh and me to bring this to all of you.”
Nitesh Tiwari humbly stated, “It took me 7 years to reach this point. Filmmaking is often a speculative and lonely process. All these years, I have imagined this moment and how the audience would react. Today, to see your reaction, I feel that it was worth those 7 years.”
He continued, “A lot of people have toiled very hard on this film. I hope we receive proportionate love from the viewers.”
Before signing off, Namit Malhotra revealed, “Some 10,000 people have worked on Ramayana across various departments and continue to work on the film. These crew members are based across the world. We have teams in Canada, UK, Australia, Europe and every corner of India who are pouring their heart and soul into making this happen. Special cheers to all of them!”
The event was systematically organized, compared to the one held at the same venue the previous year, when the first glimpse of the Ramayana was unveiled. This time, special care was taken to ensure that the auditorium didn’t become overcrowded. Not all fans were allowed to enter together; they were taken inside in batches.
However, many members of the media had expected Ranbir Kapoor’s presence, and his absence was keenly felt. This led to some disappointment, especially since the event was held very early in the morning and at a cinema hall far from the suburbs, where a majority of mediapersons reside and operate.
