Ram Gopal Varma says “Fantastic!” as Dhurandhar 2 trailer goes viral

It is finally out. The long-awaited trailer of Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has dropped, and it serves up more of the same seething, explosive aggression that defined the first part only this time, everything is bigger, louder and far more intense.

The trailer feels like an attempt to top a dish that was already brimming over with high-octane action and visceral drama. The anti-Pakistan sentiment is amped up dramatically in the new trailer. This time, the narrative appears to escalate into an all-out war against the enemy, with the stakes raised to a feverish pitch.

Most members of the film trade feel that Dhurandhar 2 could go through the roof at the box office.

Roshan Singh, a leading film exhibitor in Bihar, predicts massive numbers. “It will be much, much bigger than the first film. I believe the director has even shot additional scenes after seeing the response to the first film. Now Toxic is also out of the race. They are afraid of losing their audience in the Gulf because of the war situation. But Dhurandhar 2 was never dependent on that market since it will probably be banned in many Muslim countries anyway. I predict a minimum ₹1500-crore run for Dhurandhar 2.”

Madhavan, who plays one of the key roles in Dhurandhar and its sequel, is reluctant to reveal much about the second instalment. “Subhash, we’ve been strictly asked not to say a word,” he laughs. “All I can say is there is a lot more of me and Ranveer Singh this time. Part 2 shows how we met and how I recruited Ranveer’s character. Beyond that I cannot say anything.”

Adds filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, “The trailer is f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c. It is every bit as terrific as one expected. I always said Part 2 will be bigger than the first film. I don’t know why Toxic opted out of the March 19 slot. They are saying it’s because of the war situation in the Gulf, but no one seems to believe them.”

Trade expert Taran Adarsh amplifies the film’s prospects. “The trailer of Dhurandhar: The Revenge is nothing short of a thunderous announcement that a massive big-screen spectacle is on its way. It completely lives up to the gigantic hype surrounding the film. What stands out instantly is the scale and intensity. It feels designed purely for a larger-than-life theatrical experience. The trailer hints at a quintessential mass entertainer that has all the ingredients to set the box office on fire. In short, the trailer doesn’t just meet expectations it elevates the excitement several notches higher. The countdown to the big screen has truly begun.”
