Actress Pooja Hegde recently shared an interesting insight into her journey in the entertainment industry, revealing that acting was never part of her original career plans. During the trailer launch event of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, the actress admitted that she never imagined becoming an actor and did not even consider films as a possible profession while growing up.
The upcoming comedy-romantic drama, directed by David Dhawan, marks Pooja’s first collaboration with the veteran filmmaker. During the media interaction, writer Rumi Jaffery recalled knowing the actress since her school days and shared how he had predicted her future in films much before her debut. “I have known her since she was in the 8th grade. I had told her parents that she’d become a heroine one day. She was destined for it,” Rumi Jaffery said during the event. Reacting to the anecdote, Pooja spoke candidly about coming from a non-film background and growing up in a family that prioritised academics over entertainment careers.
“Never had I thought in my dreams that I’d become an actress. I come from a very academically driven family, and nobody in my family has worked even closely in films. When I go to watch a film, I only used to watch it as a film. I didn’t even think of it as a job that was possible. I remember Rumi sir had told me to try my hand in films, but I was not very sure of it,” she shared.
Over the years, Pooja Hegde has established herself across multiple film industries, balancing projects in both Bollywood and the South Indian film industry. With Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, the actress will now be seen stepping into a full-fledged commercial comedy space alongside Varun Dhawan and Mrunal Thakur. The film also stars Maniesh Paul, Chunky Panday, Jimmy Shergill, and Mouni Roy in supporting roles.
Produced by Ramesh Taurani under the banner of Tips Films and co-produced by Gaurav Bose of Maximilian Films, the trailer of the film was unveiled on May 23. Billed as a family comedy entertainer, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is scheduled to release in cinemas on June 5.
