Actor Pooja Bhamrrah has joined the cast of Kohrra Season 2 and will be seen playing the character Preet in the upcoming installment of the Netflix series. The second season of Kohrra is scheduled to premiere on February 11.
Speaking about how she landed the role, Pooja shared that the opportunity came through a chance conversation during theatre rehearsals. “You know they say what’s yours will come to you. I was rehearsing for a play back then and my co-actor happened to tell me that there is an audition going on where they’re looking for Punjabi girls, and if I was okay playing a mother, I should get in touch with Nikita Grover, the casting director,” she said.
Pooja reached out to the casting director via Instagram and was asked to submit a self-tape for the role of Preet. She said the audition scene immediately stood out to her. “The scene had a major confrontation and I knew I couldn’t do this alone. I reached out to my friend and casting director Deepak Agarwal, jammed with him, went over it several times, and then roped in another friend and casting director Gulshan Suryavanshi. The three of us were on a mission.”
She described the preparation process as intensive and collaborative. “We took a full day to prep. I even sent my parents out for a movie so that we had the house to ourselves for all the screaming and profanity that the script demanded. What a joyous process it turned out to be,” she recalled.
After submitting the audition, Pooja did not receive an immediate response and was later contacted to test for a different role. “They told me they saw Preet very differently from how I look,” she said.
She was subsequently called to meet the show’s creators, Sudip Sharma and Faisal Rahman. Recalling the meeting, Pooja said the discussion went beyond the project itself. “Right after the meeting, I got a call saying I’ve been locked for Preet!” she said. “And considering what a big fan I am of Kohrra and Sudip Sir, not saying yes was out of the question.”
Kohrra Season 2 will stream on Netflix from February 11.
