Paresh Rawal, a revered figure in the Indian film industry, recently shared his thoughts on the challenges of securing high-quality comedy scripts and his aspirations for more substantial roles in the genre. The accomplished actor, known for his versatile performances, was last seen in the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Dream Girl 2.
In an interview with News18, Paresh Rawal opened up about his role in Dream Girl 2 and expressed his desire for greater on-screen presence in future comedy ventures. While he appreciated his part in the film, he acknowledged that it was not as extensive as Ayushmann Khurrana's, the lead actor. Reflecting on his role in the film, Paresh Rawal remarked, “My role in Dream Girl 2 is good but isn’t as big as Ayushmann’s. But it’s a very good role. Sometimes, it’s great if you have less screen time in a bad film. But when you have a subject like Dream Girl 2, a director like Raaj Shaandilyaa, and an actor like Ayushmann, then you would want to have a longer screen time in the film.”
The actor went on to discuss the challenges of finding quality comedy scripts in the industry. He candidly stated, “The issue is you don’t get good scripts very often when it comes to comedy. It’s very difficult. So, in a situation like that, you would want to have a bigger role in a good comedy film. Much like any other actor, I also want a scope to perform better and have a chunkier role. All actors, after all, are greedy.”
Dream Girl 2 was directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and produced by Ektaa R Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday in the lead roles, while Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, Seema Pahwa, Vijay Raaz, Manjot Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Ranjan Raj, Manoj Joshi, and Annu Kapoor appear in prominent roles. The film is arrived in cinemas on August 25, 2023.
