Nawazuddin stepped easily into the shoes of the character, and with his commanding screen presence, he brought the character of Pakistani writer, playwright, and author Manto alive on the screen.

The biographical drama film directed by Nandita Das traces the journey of Manto, and Nawazuddin aced every layer of the character so sharply and perfectly on screen. As the film has completed its five years of release today, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has taken to social media and hailed the film as the most special film of his career.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui's performance in Manto demonstrated that no other actor in the business can compete with him when it comes to portraying a character in a biographical drama. One of the more challenging characters he has ever played is Manto, for whom he went above and beyond his bounds of duty. Nawazuddin Siddiqui posted a photo of himself online dressed as Manto and wrote a touching note in commemoration of the movie's fifth anniversary.
