The passing of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle continues to evoke emotional tributes from across the film industry. Veteran actress Mumtaz joined the list of celebrities remembering the icon, sharing a heartfelt note along with a nostalgic video that offered a glimpse into their personal bond.
Taking to social media, Mumtaz posted a clip from a recent, intimate gathering that featured a light-hearted ‘jugalbandi’ between the two yesteryear stars. In the video, Asha Bhosle can be seen accompanying Mumtaz as the latter dances to the singer’s popular track ‘Koi Sehri Babu’. The candid moment, set in a cozy and homely environment with a few close companions around, reflects the warmth and camaraderie they shared off-screen.
Alongside the video, Mumtaz expressed her grief and gratitude in an emotional note. She wrote, “Today, I feel a deep sense of loss. Asha Bhosle ji was not just a legendary voice, she was the soul behind so many of my most cherished on-screen moments. Her songs gave life, charm, and emotion to my performances in a way that words can never fully express. Working with her voice was truly a blessing. Asha Bhosle passed away on April 12, 2026, at the age of 92 at Breach Candy Hospital. According to official statements, she had been admitted a day earlier after suffering from severe exhaustion and a chest infection. Despite medical efforts, her condition worsened due to age-related complications, ultimately leading to multi-organ failure.
Her last rites were conducted with full state honours at Shivaji Park in Dadar, Mumbai, where members of the film fraternity, political leaders, and fans gathered to pay their final respects.
As tributes continue to pour in, Mumtaz’s post stands out for its personal touch, capturing a moment of shared joy that now serves as a lasting memory of the legendary singer’s enduring legacy.
