Actor Priyanka Chopra shared a heartfelt note mourning the demise of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, describing her voice as an inseparable part of growing up for several generations across India.
Taking to social media, Priyanka wrote that some losses feel like losing a piece of one’s childhood and memories, adding that Asha Bhosle’s voice formed the backdrop of everyday life for many people. She reflected on how the singer’s songs accompanied moments of celebration, heartbreak, joy, and quiet reflection in homes across the country.
The actor further noted that for her generation and many others, Asha Bhosle was not only a legend but a constant presence whose voice felt timeless. She added that it was difficult to put into words the impact of losing someone whose music helped shape the emotional landscape of an entire nation. Priyanka concluded her note by thanking the singer for a lifetime of music and said her voice would live on forever in people’s hearts.

Asha Bhosle passed away at the age of 92 on Sunday, April 12, after battling health complications for some time. She had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday following cardiac and respiratory issues.
Over the years, she lent her voice to several films starring Shah Rukh Khan, including popular tracks from the 1990s. One of her widely remembered songs remains “Zara Sa Jhoom Loon Main,” sung with Abhijeet Bhattacharya for the film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
Her mortal remains will be kept at her residence in Lower Parel for the public to pay their final respects from 11 am on Monday. The family informed that the last rites will be conducted at 4 pm the same day.
Following the news of her passing, tributes have continued to pour in from across the film industry. Personalities including Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan were among those who remembered the singer and acknowledged her lasting contribution to Indian cinema and music.
