Following the intriguing teaser of Governor, which heightened anticipation, the makers recently dropped the trailer showcasing a pivotal chapter in India’s economic history, when the nation stood on the verge of bankruptcy in 1990. The trailer perfectly captures the intense and challenging phase of the country, backed by intriguing avatar of Manoj Bajpayee and Adah Sharma. While the film features Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role, he had been waiting to collaborate with Vipul Amrutlal Shah for a long time.
At the trailer launch of Governor, Manoj Bajpayee said, "I have known Vipul for many years but we never got a chance to work together. I was looking for some work from him since he's been a very successful producer in this industry. 4.5 years back he got in touch with me for this film. I found the first drafts so exciting and kept talking after that. "
Governor is inspired by true events and brings to light India's economic meltdown of 1990’s. The trailer offers a glimpse into a compelling story, featuring the National Award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee playing a Governor.
Governor is brought to you by Sunshine Pictures. The film, directed by Chinmay Mandlekar and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, is co-produced by Aashin A. Shah and features a script by Suvendu Bhattacharyjee, Saurabh Bharat, Ravi Asrani, and Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The film features lyrics by Javed Akhtar, with music composed by Amit Trivedi. The movie is set to be released on June 12, 2026.
