With the release of Governor drawing closer, the makers have unveiled a new promotional video titled Appointment with the Governor: The Common Man. The film stars Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role and is inspired by events surrounding India's 1991 financial crisis, a period widely regarded as a turning point in the country's economic history.
The newly released video focuses on the idea of ordinary individuals making an extraordinary impact during challenging times. In the featurette, Manoj Bajpayee reflects on the significance of unsung heroes and their contribution to shaping history.
Speaking in the video, the actor says, “History remembers kings, history remembers warriors, but sometimes a common man changes history. Governor wasn't a politician, he wasn't a celebrity, he was just a common man who never stopped fighting.”
The film is set against the backdrop of a major economic crisis that placed India under significant financial pressure. According to the makers, Governor explores the decisions, challenges, and leadership required during a period of uncertainty, while examining the human stories behind the events. Manoj Bajpayee plays the titular Governor, a character tasked with steering the nation through difficult circumstances. The film aims to revisit a crucial chapter in India's economic journey through a dramatic narrative inspired by real-life events.

Governor is directed by Chinmay Mandlekar and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under the banner of Sunshine Pictures. The film is co-produced by Aashin A. Shah and features a screenplay by Suvendu Bhattacharyjee, Saurabh Bharat, Ravi Asrani, and Vipul Amrutlal Shah.
The project also stars Adah Sharma and Madhoo in key roles. The music has been composed by Amit Trivedi, while the lyrics are penned by Javed Akhtar.
Governor is scheduled to release in cinemas on June 12, 2026.
