Mahira Khan recalls nose-to-nose kissing scene in ‘Zaalima’ song in Raees: “I used to be like ‘you can’t kiss me here, you can’t do this’”

Pakistani actress Mahira Khan is one of the biggest stars of her country. The actress remains one of the most in-demand stars. Six years ago, she made her debut in Bollywood with Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees, With growing tensions between the two countries, she didn’t get to promote the movie but she still speaks highly of the actor and the experience she had while working in India. In a recent conversation, the actress spoke about filming the ‘Zaalima’ song and how they had to work around the intimacy part of it.

While speaking with Anupama Chopra on her podcast, All About Movies, Mahira Khan talkd about her reservations about the intimacy in ‘Zaalima’ song and said, “When we were shooting for ‘Zaalima’, they all used to make fun of me because I used to be scared, ‘ki kuch jyada na ho jaaye (we do not do anything objectionable). So, I used to be like, ‘you can’t kiss me here, you can’t do this’. He used to be like, ‘Kya ho gaya hai’ (What has happened?) He, obviously, used to get a kick out of it as well. He used to tease me, ‘Oh pata hai next scene kaun sa hain?’ (Do you know what the next scene is?)”.

Mahira Khan recounted how they zeroed in on nose-to-nose kissing in the song. She added, “We didn’t know what to do on the hook in the song ‘Zaalima’ so it became a joke that since nothing else can happen, let’s make the noses kiss. Let’s go for nose-to-nose kissing. The whole song if you look at it, he just does a little nose thing. He was just like, ‘Will this be okay? Is this okay for you?’ In my heart, I would be like, ‘What do you know?'"

On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan will next star in Jawan. The film stars Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara. Deepika Padukone is making a cameo in the Atlee Kumar directorial. It is set for June 2023. He also has Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki. The film will be backed by Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment. It will release on the big screen on December 22, 2023. The film stars Taapsee Pannu in the lead role.

Meanwhile, Mahira Khan was last seen in The Legend Of Maula Jatt with Fawad Khan. The film is Pakistan’s most expensive film to date and went on to make Rs. 100 crore at the box office in the home country and went on to amass $13.8 million worldwide on 500 screens. She is yet to announce her next project, however, she is working with Fawad again on his production Neelofar.
