Renowned actress Lin Laishram and her husband, acclaimed actor and filmmaker Randeep Hooda, visited the historic Cellular Jail in Kala Pani, Port Blair, on May 28, that was incidentally the 141st Birth Anniversary of Freedom Fighter Veer Savarkar. The visit held deep personal and professional significance for the couple, especially in light of Hooda’s intense involvement in the film on Veer Savarkar titled Swatantrya Veer Savarkar.

Laishram shared her heartfelt reflections on the visit through an emotional Instagram post. “This trip to the Cellular Jail in Kala Pani, Port Blair, was incredibly significant for me. Watching my husband endure so much while making the film on Veer Savarkar was heart-wrenching. I witnessed the weight loss, the increasing responsibility, and the relentless dedication he poured into being the director, producer, writer, and actor. Honestly, I began to despise the project because I couldn’t bear to see him struggle so intensely. But now, seeing the final product on screen fills me with immense pride. This visit brought me much-needed closure and a profound respect for the sacrifices made both then and now,” she captioned the post.

The Cellular Jail, also known as Kala Pani, is a poignant reminder of India’s struggle for independence, where many freedom fighters, including Veer Savarkar, were imprisoned. Hooda’s film explores the life and legacy of Savarkar, and this visit allowed the couple to pay homage to the historical significance of the site and the sacrifices of those who endured its harsh conditions.
