LFW Summer/Resort 2019: Tabu and Karan Johar storm the scene as the showstoppers for Gaurav Gupta with oodles of sass and spunk!

The Summer/Resort 2019 edition of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) that will begin from January 30 to February 3 in Mumbai saw eminent fashion designer Gaurav Gupta unveil his latest collection in the opening show tonight at the Opera House. Turning muse for the designer were none other than Tabu and Karan Johar. The resplendent diva, Tabu was a vision to behold in a gown as she walked the ramp while Bollywood’s flamboyant boy, Karan worked a shimmery bright red blazer as he walked the ramp with utter aplomb! While Tabu has us intrigued with her timeless beauty, grace and poise, it's quite safe to say that Karan Johar’s style is game-changing and fabulous. While she sticks to classics but has also adapted well to the changing pace of fashion, acquiring a distinct style, Karan's style shenanigans include all things modish, quirky, incredible and are intriguing to say the least.

The designer’s collection, titled ‘The (Un)folding’ witnessed delicate hand embroidered chikankari and Benarasi brocade come together. The subtle play of these two translated well into evening wear, dresses, pantsuits, sari gowns and lehengas. Gaurav Gupta’s signature style of pattern making including origami folding as well as fluid-structural construction were also evident. The colour palette featured the quintessential summer pastels like the yellow, rose, ivory, powder blue. Intricate embellishments and embroideries like crystals, zardozi and 3D floral motifs dominated.

Tabu walked with the unmissable grace of a diva in a grey-silver gown that was well complimented with sleek hair and subtle makeup.

Storming the scene with that unflinching attitude in tow, Karan Johar donned a shimmery red blazer over his all-black separates. Formal shoes, a well-groomed mane and signature pout completed his look.

With his hair styled, Karan oozed sass and flaunted that perfect pout while Tabu allowed her ethereal avatar to speak for itself.

It was a full house as the shutterbugs and the fashion aficionados thronged to catch a glimpse of the designer’s collection amidst a dramatic backdrop.

Karan Johar is all set to direct the magnum opus, Takht featuring an ensemble cast of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Bhumi Pednekar, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. Tabu was last seen in the commercially and critically acclaimed film, Andhadhun last year. She will be seen with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in Bharat.
